My little experience of doing SEO has taught me a few things. I have compiled a small list of common SEO mistakes done by me and also by others who are starting out on doing SEO by themselves for their websites.

1. Building high amount of links to your website quickly.
2. Use of high Keyword density in your article.
3. Duplicate content across your website.
4. Repeatition of title across your website.
5. Use of automated tool or software for spamming your links.
6. Not using the meta keyword and description tag
7. Linking from a non related website.
8. Not using sitemap
9. Using spinned content which replaces the article by synonyms, [There is a small controversy regarding this. SEO specialists say that use of automated article re-writers which makes the article unique by replacing words with their synonyms are bad for your website].
10. Bad internal linking structure for your website.
11. Changing your website title frequently.
12. Bad url structure for your websites.
13. Pinging your blog posts too often and at a quick interval.

These are some mistakes which are often neglected by webmasters and these often add up to you being banned from search engines

Though it doesn’t hurt much in case of your site’s SEO purpose but you are losing the effective PR juice which you deserve for your site. As Google will not rank a non-existant Page, the backlik becomes useless.
Also you will lose the important traffic which will come to your site following the backlink.

FREE Bloghosts like Blogger.com,wordpress.com etc. and subdomain hosting providers like freehostia, freewebs etc. are very useful in building backlinks to your site and to increase the SEO value of your site..

Here is why it can increase our site’s SEO value and backlinks:

1. Usually the blog hosts will be considered authority sites by the search engines as they would have huge number of hosted blogs which are updated with unique content on regular basis.
2. Getting good search engine rankings for a well optimized blog is easier than your own hosted Blog.
3. Every Bloghosts are hosted on several C-class Ip’s. For example blogger.com itself is hosted on several Different IPs. This factor is very good for backlinks to your main site. This is same for all sub-domain hosts.
4. The chances of getting a keyword rich subdomain and blogs are high.

Getting Backlinks To Your Site By Using Free Bloghosts and Sub-domain hosts

1. The first step is to find as many hosts as possible.
Search in google for “free blog hosts” and “free web hosts”

2. Register subdomain and blogs based on your main site niche keyword. If the keyword is not available then use hypen, numbers etc.

3. Write 3-4 unique articles targetting atleast 5-6 keywords

4. Make each article into 100 different articles using Jetspinner.

5. Make 5 blogs and 5 subdomains daily on different hosts. Use the article and post them. Don’t forget to add your website link at the bottom of your article. After setting up and making a post use onlywire to bookmark your site. Now as soon as these sites are indexed you will be having backlinks to your site. If you spend more time on each site then they can even rank higher than your main website.

THE ABOVE PROCESS IS A TEDIOUS JOB. BUT IT CAN BE OUTSOURCED.

In the next post I will be posting a comprehensive list of Bloghosts.

These are some common questions asked by people on Directory Submission?

1. Will Directory Submission Cause Google To Put My Site In SANDBOX?
2. Will Directory Submission Works?
3. How Many Directories should I submit My Site to?
4. How to tell whether a directory is worth submitting or not?
5. Directory Submission Is Boring? How and where can I outsource this work for cheap?
6. Should I go for paid inclusion?

Here are the answers in order to all the above questions asked.

1. This is the most common misconception that people have. Directory Submission doesn’t cause any problem to your site if done correctly. If you try to use automated submission or spam, then there is all possibility of your site getting sandboxed. Generally Google allows around 40-50 backlinks daily to your site. More than that amount of links can be dangerous as Google thinks that you are getting the links by spamming. So one should submit to around 100-150 directories per day. Every directory takes their own sweet time to list your site. So even if 100-150 submission is done you can expect a max of 10-15 backlinks/day.

2. Directory Submission works and there is no fear of sandboxing your site.

3. 100-150 directories per day.

4. You can decide whether the Directory is worth submitting or not based on the following factors
Page Rank of the webpage your site will be listed on.
Age of the directory [For how long the Directory is Up].
Time take by the directory to review and index your site.
The present Number of sites already listed on the directory. The higher the number is better.
Check whether the directory is accepting P*** websites. If then do avoid such directories. [Very important: Don’t mix porn with your website].

5. I usually outsource this work at forums.digitalpoint.com. Look for people who are doing Submission from long time and have good amount of itraders.

6. It depends upon your budget you have got for link building.
