Get Your Website Noticed Today

On the internet, your website is just one of billions of other website out there. Because of this, your website might never even get noticed, no matter how much you long for the much-needed cyber attention. In order to get people interested in your site, follow the steps in this article.
1. Look professional.
If your website looks like a high school book report, no one will want to look at your website. Take time off to truly learn how to use a decent web design program, like Microsoft Frontpage or Dreamweaver MX, and let your imagination rise and your creativity flow. Take note to make your website look attractive, organized, and professionally designed. No one likes going through haystacks of files just to find the things that they want to read. On that same note, don’t put too many things on your site. Flash introductions may look pretty, but regular internet surfers only have about ten seconds of patience when it comes to page loading before they give up and move on.
2. Put your website on every search engine.
You won’t get people to visit your site if the only place you put your URL is on your personal business card. Put your website into various search engines to make it easier for people to find you if they are looking for the topics that you cater to. So, ensure that your site is full of relevant keywords that you think would interest people. Various web directories, such as Yahoo!, are taken care of by people who put these websites into their respective categories. If you are too lazy to put your URL on a number of directories, you can subscribe to websites such as www.submit-it.com, who will automatically do this for you for a certain amount of money.
3. Link your site everywhere.
If you find websites that are quite similar to yours in content, try to exchange links with them. Have banners ready that people can place into their websites and offer to do the same on your own website. Make sure that your URL can be found in your e-mail signature. You can even join webrings to really get yourself out there. Don’t try to spam:)
4. Do offline advertising.
The internet is not the only way you can get yourself noticed. Write several press releases and give them to local magazines and newspapers. Print and distribute flyers. However, you should only do this once your website is perfectly up and running, so that people do not get the wrong impression and get disappointed in the end.
5. Communicate with your visitors.
Have message boards and forums on your website so that your visitors can speak to each other. Chat rooms may take up too much time, so message boards are ideal. You can even make an e-mail list, so you can let your visitors know about updates and they can let you know about their feedback.
